Parents’ Tips

BEHAVIOUR & DISCIPLINE

You as Parents or Carers know that children are to follow certain rules and routines even at home, so that they will learn to control their own behaviour. This must be done also at school to ensure the smooth-running of the everyday activities as well as the safety of the children. Thus the children are expected to behave in a courteous and safe manner. Clear guidelines provide a structure for children to follow whilst they begin to take responsibility for their own behaviour.

The teachers and Administration try to keep these rules to a minimum. We always try to explain to the children and discuss with them the reasons for our rules, which are designed to ensure safety and consideration of others. We ask for the co-operation of parents and carers in matters of behaviour and their support in reinforcing the values and attitudes we promote within the school, as we feel this is in the best interest of the children.

The best way in promoting good behaviour is to praise the children when this behaviour is achieved. Obviously this is done in all classes and varies from class to class. Each and every teacher will have her own way of praising or rewarding her pupils. But unfortunately, sometimes certain measures must be taken to correct certain behaviour. If this behaviour continues repeatedly, than parents or carers will be asked to discuss the problem with the class teacher and the Headteacher.

We believe that the friendly, open and caring atmosphere within our school is very important. We encourage children to learn from the example: we try to show that we value each other, adults and children alike, that we appreciate their work and their endeavours. All teachers take a personal interest in the care of all the children, with the help, support and guidance of the staff and the Administration.
